Get help with blabe

Email support with what happened and which version you’re on. Most fixes are already in the troubleshooting guide, so look there first.

Email support

Write to support@blabe.dev. You get a first reply within two business days. Business days are Monday to Friday, US Pacific time, excluding US holidays.

Support is by email only. There is no phone or chat line.

Try these first

Every message blabe shows is explained, with the fix, in troubleshooting. The rest of the docs:

  • Setup: install blabe and step through the welcome window.
  • Permissions: Microphone, Input Monitoring and Accessibility.
  • Hotkey: Fn by default, the alternatives and the emoji-picker fix.
  • License: signing in to your blabe account, your plan and usage, the trial and up to 3 Macs.
  • Uninstall: remove blabe and everything it stores.

What to include

A few details get you to a fix faster.

Include

  • Your blabe version, shown at the top of Settings.
  • Your macOS version, and whether your Mac has Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
  • The hold key you chose in Settings.
  • What happened and roughly when. Add the message from the pill or the menu bar if there was one.
  • For a billing question, your Polar order reference, without card details.

Leave out

Support never needs these.

  • Your blabe license key or any password.
  • Card numbers.
  • Audio recordings, the words you dictated or screenshots of your conversations.

Export a support bundle

If support asks for more detail, choose Help → Export Support Bundle… in blabe. It saves a redacted diagnostic file on your Mac. Look through it, and attach it to your email only if you want to. blabe never sends it for you.

Common questions

blabe copied my words instead of pasting them.

Your words are on the clipboard, so press ⌘V where you want them. blabe copies instead of pasting in a secure field and when Accessibility isn’t granted. The pill says which.

Fn opens the emoji picker, or nothing happens when I hold it.

In System Settings → Keyboard, set Press 🌐 key to to Do Nothing. If your keyboard doesn’t send Fn, choose Right Option, Right Command or Right Control in blabe’s Settings. The hotkey guide has the details.

blabe says I’ve reached my usage limit, or that transcription is unavailable.

Transcription is included in your subscription within a fair-use monthly limit. When you reach it, new dictation pauses until your allowance refreshes; Settings → Account shows the date. The allowance refreshes every month on the day you subscribed, including on a yearly plan. The free trial has its own fair-use limit, which doesn’t refresh: if you reach it, subscribe to keep dictating. If blabe says the service is temporarily unavailable, try again in a few minutes; your words from the last dictation are kept.

How do I cancel, or update my card?

Cancel, switch between monthly and yearly, or update your card in your Polar customer portal. Uninstalling blabe doesn’t cancel your subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Try blabe free for 2 days before you subscribe, and cancel anytime to stop the next renewal. Refunds are given only where the law requires them. If you think a charge is wrong, email your Polar order reference.

It says all 3 Macs are in use, or that this license isn’t active.

One subscription covers up to 3 Macs. Signing out of a Mac doesn’t free its place. Free one in your Polar customer portal, then press Sign In again on the Mac you’re on. If your subscription has ended, renew it first.

Your email and your privacy

Support emails, and any diagnostic files you attach, are deleted 30 days after your case is closed. Billing and tax records are kept separately, as the law requires. Read the privacy policy.
