Uninstall blabe

Sign out, quit blabe, delete the app, and clear what it left behind if you want a clean slate.

1. Sign out and free your seat

Open Settings → Account and click Sign Out. That signs this Mac out of blabe at once. It doesn’t free this Mac’s seat: one subscription covers up to 3 Macs, and you free a seat in your Polar customer portal.

2. Quit and delete

  1. Click the blabe icon in the menu bar and choose Quit blabe.
  2. If you turned on Launch at login, turn it off in Settings first, or remove blabe in System Settings → General → Login Items.
  3. Delete /Applications/blabe.app.

3. Remove blabe’s sign-in from the Keychain

blabe keeps its sign-in in your login Keychain, under the service name com.montalvo.blabe.service. session-v1 is your sign-in, and device-id-v1 is an ID for this Mac that stays after you sign out. To remove them, run these in Terminal, or delete the items in Keychain Access.

security delete-generic-password -s com.montalvo.blabe.service -a session-v1
security delete-generic-password -s com.montalvo.blabe.service -a device-id-v1

Signing out keeps device-id-v1, so signing in again later reuses this Mac’s place. Removing it does not free that place: if you install blabe again afterwards, the service counts this Mac as a new one and it can take another of your 3. Free the old place first, as in step 1.

A third entry, trial-id-v1, is the random ID that limits this Mac to one free trial. It holds nothing else, and these steps leave it in place.

4. Reset the permissions

tccutil reset All com.montalvo.blabe

This removes blabe from Microphone, Input Monitoring and Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

5. Remove the settings

defaults delete com.montalvo.blabe

This clears your hotkey, language, words to recognize and the other choices in Settings.

blabe keeps no recordings, transcripts or history on disk, so there’s nothing else to delete.
