How blabe pastes
When you let go of the hotkey, blabe checks the field your cursor is in, puts your words on the clipboard, presses Ctrl+V for you, and then puts back what was on your clipboard before, unless you’ve copied something else in the meantime. Those words are kept out of Windows clipboard history and the cloud clipboard. blabe never presses Enter.
If any check fails, blabe doesn’t paste. Your words stay on the clipboard, cleaned up if AI cleanup is on, and the pill starts with Copied. Nothing is lost: press Ctrl+V where you want them. Copy Last Transcript in the blabe menu copies your words as transcribed, before any AI cleanup.
Apps run as administrator
Windows doesn’t let an ordinary app type into an app that runs as administrator, such as a Terminal or PowerShell window opened with Run as administrator, or an installer. blabe runs as you, without administrator rights, so it checks the app in front first. If that app runs at a higher level, or Windows won’t say, blabe copies instead of pasting, and the pill says Copied — paste it where you want it.
Press Ctrl+V in the app to paste. If the app doesn’t need administrator rights, opening it normally lets blabe paste into it again.
Password fields
blabe asks Windows whether the field is a password field before it pastes. If it is, blabe copies instead, and the pill says Copied — secure field.
Fields blabe can’t confirm
Some apps don’t tell Windows what kind of field has your cursor, or take too long to answer. blabe pastes only into a field it has confirmed is an ordinary text field, so in those apps it copies, and the pill says Copied — paste it where you want it.
Typing with an input method (IME)
If you type Chinese, Japanese, Korean or another language with an input method editor, and the IME still has text you haven’t committed, pasting would mix your words into it. blabe copies instead, and the pill says Copied — finish typing in the IME, then paste. Finish or cancel what you were typing, then press Ctrl+V. If blabe can’t ask the IME, the pill says Copied — couldn’t check the input method.
Other Copied messages
- Copied: you switched windows before the paste, or no window had focus.
- Copied — keys were still held: Win, Alt or Shift was still down, so pressing Ctrl+V would have become a different shortcut. Let go of every key after the hotkey.
- Copied — couldn’t paste: Windows refused the keystroke.
- Copied — account changed: you signed in or out while blabe was transcribing.
- Clipboard busy — use Copy last transcript: another app was holding the clipboard. Choose Copy Last Transcript in the blabe menu.
- Pasted — earlier clipboard not fully restored: your words were pasted, but part of what you had copied before couldn’t be put back.
